Pillars of Personhood Classroom Training
Personhood is the pro-life battle-ground of the 21st century. Throughout the history of the Church the doctrinal teaching of the “Sanctity of Life” (Genesis 1:26-27) has been the belief that Man is created Imago Dei (Latin: in the image of God) and therefore has worth at all stages of life. Pillars of Personhood educates students in the heritage that they have been given as Americans. The first day, the students sit through 3 hours of “seat work,” then 1 hour of “feet work” where we actually stand around the display and drill practice with the information just given. The goal is to impart some initial level of proficiency in engaging the public in dialogue around the issue of Personhood.
The “seatwork” has 6 segments:
1. The biblical case for the sanctity of life (doctrine of imago dei.) This explains why a Christian worldview is important as the foundation of pro-life work and why do we not shy away from sharing our faith when asked for the reason for what we believe.
2. The historical position of the Church through the ages and the Constitutional Right to life for all persons
3. The Personhood argument
4. The Deception of Exceptions
5. Political power & responsibility and the need to address future issues such as biotechnology, trans-humanism and eugenics.
6. Answering objectives and wounded people with Truth in Love and Grace
The “feetwork” entails practicing our responses to questions regarding the four panels on the “Pillars of Personhood.”
When Are We Human? When Are We Persons?
Outreach: Then we have an outreach on the college campus, getting permission ahead of time to place the “Pillars of Personhood” in a public area. We ask the students passing by this tent with four different panels depicting personhood issues of life, what they think about the right to personhood. We then listen carefully to them and minister to them according to the training received previously. This is a powerful way to reach our generation. What Is Personhood?
In Florida, what constitutes a person is not defined by law; therefore, legal protection is not extended to the preborn and is presently in jeopardy with our elderly and disabled.
The proposed Personhood Amendment recognizes all humans as “persons” under the Florida Constitution regardless of age, race, creed, mental or physical ability. It will establish justice and respect for life from the moment of biological beginning until natural death.
