Did You Know that the Christmas Story is a ProLife Story?

Did you know that the Christmas story is a prolife story? Well, it is!

Consider this: In the Christmas story, we see two miraculous conceptions! The first was of John the Baptist who was conceived by Elizabeth who was previously barren and was so far advanced in age that her husband Zacharias didn’t believe the message brought by Gabriel, “who stands in the presence of God,” (Luke 1:19) that his wife would conceive and bear the forerunner of Jesus Christ.

We also see in the Christmas story the most miraculous conception of all, the immaculate conception, when the Holy Spirit would overshadow the Virgin Mary and cause her to conceive the Son of God.  Gabriel told Mary, “You will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Luke 1:31-33 NKJV

In the Christmas story, we also have the first ever recording of a human being baptized in the Holy Spirit. We read also that when Mary and the baby Jesus Who was inside Mary’s womb visited Elizabeth “that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” Luke 1:41. We don’t know for sure, but it was probably at this time that John the Baptist was also filled with the Holy Spirit in accordance with the prophecy delivered by Gabriel: “He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.” Luke 1:15

This time of year as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, remember that reaffirms the truth God has revealed multiple times in Scripture that all human life is sacred, even children in their mother’s womb. Those who believe it is ok for an abortionist to rip a baby limb from limb inside his mother’s womb should take note of this passage and stop killing preborn children!

I recently preached a sermon series that included these aspects of the Christmas story. You can watch the first sermon in this series below and other sermons in this series, some of which are prolife sermons at our church website, www.CovenantTabernacle.com.
